1. Working principle:
Lead acid batteries store and release electrical energy through chemical reactions between the active material on the positive and negative plates and the electrolyte (dilute sulfuric acid). During charging, electrical energy is converted into chemical energy and stored; During the discharge process, chemical energy is converted back into electrical energy for output.
2. Low cost:
Compared with other types of batteries, lead-acid batteries have relatively lower manufacturing costs, making the entire battery box more competitive in the market and suitable for large-scale applications.
3. Stable performance:
With mature technology and stable and reliable performance, it can work normally within a wide temperature range and has strong adaptability to the environment.
4. High safety:
After long-term development and improvement, the safety of lead-acid batteries has been greatly guaranteed. Under normal use and maintenance, they are less prone to dangerous situations such as explosion and combustion.
5. Heavy weight:
Due to its lower energy density, lead-acid batteries of the same capacity are usually heavier than other types of batteries.
6. Easy maintenance:
Some lead-acid batteries adopt a sealed design, which does not require maintenance and is suitable for special application scenarios such as UPS systems
7. Wide application areas:
Lead acid batteries are widely used in fields such as automobiles, communication base stations, solar energy storage, emergency power supplies, etc., especially suitable for scenarios that require high reliability and long lifespan
8. Disadvantages:
● Low energy density: The energy stored per unit volume or weight is relatively small, resulting in a larger volume and weight of the battery box.
● Limited service life: Generally speaking, lead-acid batteries have a charging and discharging cycle of several hundred to over a thousand times, and their service life is relatively short, requiring regular replacement.
● Regular maintenance is required: It is necessary to regularly check the liquid level and specific gravity of the electrolyte, and add distilled water if necessary to ensure the normal performance of the battery.
