How to quickly distinguish nickel sheet materials

Jun 18, 2025

The pure nickel sheet has a uniform silver white metallic luster and a smooth and consistent surface; Due to different substrates, nickel plated sheets may have slight differences in surface glossiness and color. Careful observation of the edges or worn areas of the nickel plated sheet usually reveals the color of the underlying metal (such as brass or dark gray for copper). For example, if the coating of nickel plated copper sheet is incomplete, copper color can be seen. Nickel plated iron sheet may appear iron gray at the damaged area, while pure nickel sheet has a uniform and consistent color.

By means of appearance color, weight comparison, salt water corrosion resistance, and resistance measurement, nickel sheet materials can be quickly distinguished:

  • Pure nickel sheet: silver white color, heavy weight, salt water does not corrode, low resistance
  • Nickel plated copper sheet: exposed copper color due to wear, slightly lighter weight
  • Nickel plated iron sheet: worn and rusted, significantly lighter weight, higher resistance

The selection of nickel sheets should be based on current demand and application scenarios, and the thickness and width should be reasonably selected through formula calculation, while ensuring that voltage drop, heat generation and other indicators meet the requirements, thereby improving the overall safety and reliability of the battery pack.
