The Main Types Of Battery Connectors

Mar 26, 2025

Battery connectors can be classified into the following common types based on their materials:

1. Metal connection piece

Nickel sheet: The most commonly used, corrosion-resistant, and has good conductivity, suitable for nickel hydrogen/nickel cadmium batteries or lithium batteries.

Copper sheet (nickel plated or bare copper): Excellent conductivity, nickel plating can prevent oxidation, used in high current scenarios (such as power batteries).

Aluminum sheet: Lightweight, mostly used for aluminum shell lithium batteries or positive electrode connections.

Steel sheet: Low cost but poor conductivity, requiring nickel plating treatment, used for low-end battery packs.

2. Composite metal sheet

Copper aluminum composite sheet: solves the problem of copper aluminum welding and is used for connecting dissimilar metals between the positive and negative electrodes of lithium batteries.

3. Flexible materials

FPC (Flexible Circuit Board): Integrated circuit and connection functions, used for lightweight devices such as mobile phone batteries.

4. Busbar: commonly used for large battery packs, with integrated current distribution function.
